NOTE. This is an edited review, changed after I realized I had made an important mistake. My original score of 5 is still correct as these cables did what I needed, but my situation is unique and I need to clarify some very important details. If you are interested in these cables because you want to use them with your Xbox 360, then you can ignore this review. If you're interested in using them for PC gaming, I recommend you read on because that's what I use them for. But here, too, important distinctions need to be made. ***If you want these cables or other 360 controller cables to be used for PC gaming, they will not work alone. These cables are for charging the battery of the 360 wireless controller or for playing 360 games directly. These cables will NOT turn the 360 Wireless Controller into a working wired PC controller. These cables CAN be used for PC gaming ONLY IF you also have a 360 Wireless Adapter The only reason to buy these cables for PC gaming is this: If you have a 360 Wireless Controller, you also have an Xbox 360 PC adapter and you don't want to mess around with batteries or a battery pack when using a 360 wireless controller.***======================== == My situation is this: A: I have several wireless controllers and I wanted to use them for PC gaming. . I was able to do this when I bought a 360 PC adapter like this a few years ago (Note: I don't have the exact item, I have the official Microsoft version. This is a sample product but made by a different manufacturer) : https://www.amazon.com/360-Wireless-Receiver-Adapter-Controller-Windows/dp/B00LUJTK3I/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=360+pc+adapter&qid=1629334203&sr=8-1 First I have I used my 360 wireless controllers with batteries but they eventually died. I started looking for cables like the ones on this page because I thought they would allow me to connect a wireless controller to a PC, turning it into a wired controller for direct play and eliminating the need for batteries or a battery pack close. This is shown to work and that's why I gave it a strong review. The problem arose when, many months later, it wasn't until today that I realized I was half right. This is a very important part. These cables physically connect the 360 Wireless Controller to the PC, but only for charging. 360 battery when connected to this controller. These cables alone will NOT transfer game data to a PC. They "DO NOT turn a wireless 360 controller into a wired PC controller". I thought so at first, but that's only because when changing batteries to test these cables, I forgot to ever unplug my PC 360 adapter from the back of my PC. One of those cables powered my wireless controller, but it was still an attached 360 PC adapter that allowed the powered controller to actually interact with my PC games. I could use these cables for PC gaming, yes, but only because I didn't know they would work in tandem with an adapter to achieve that. =============== . While turning a wireless 360 controller into a wired one to connect directly to an Xbox 360 console can help (that wasn't my goal so I don't know), they do NOT do this for PC gaming. A 360 PC controller adapter like the one listed above is REQUIRED to use the 360 wireless controller for PC gaming. Direct connection without adapter or anything else. If you are interested in it, please get more information. Your computer powering the controller, the adapter allows the controller to interact with your PC games and this special configuration eliminates the need for batteries or rechargeable batteries. I hope this review helps clear things up and I sincerely apologize to anyone bothered by my initial misunderstanding.
