**update** 5 washes seems to be the best. It no longer bleeds except with the washing you expect. I added 2 stars because although the color washed out a lot for the first week and a half, it stopped as soon as I went through the 5th wash and what's really impressive is I didn't notice any real color loss. It's still as bright as day one. I think I'd use it again, but the first few nights I slept with my hair wrapped in a silk scarf, with an old pillowcase on my pillow, and I'd probably wash my hair like crazy for the first few days, not every few days. It's bright. And it's great, to be honest the only reason I didn't just leave a start is because the color was predictable. But even after 3 washes, the color falls on everything. My shirt collar is permanently dyed, my pillow, my fingers and nails (only after I wash my hair), my forehead, the back of my neck, my face, my ears, literally everything my hair touches for more than a few minutes is dyed. I understand the strain during the dyeing process, but that shouldn't be a problem after a few washes. If you go out, make sure it's not raining at all or even slightly damp, otherwise the paint will drip everywhere. What a mess.
