I bought the device in October 2018 for my wife's birthday. Sometime in the summer of 2019, the device stopped filtering things out. I assumed it was the calcified water in our apartment, so I dug up the instructions and used vinegar to remove the calcification. When that didn't work, I tried citric acid. When that didn't work I contacted Zojirushi support and got emails for almost 2 weeks. I gave them photos of my device and told them that I had already tried cleaning the device according to the instructions given. I sent the unit in and received an email 2-3 weeks later saying the product is not covered. They wanted $80 for repairs (at the time of writing, a new unit is $62). Well I didn't want to pay for the repair, so can I get it back? Sure, just give us $42 to send you a £3 package. I said it was cool for delivery and they came back with a letter of consent to destroy my coffee maker. Again it was my wife's birthday present which she used every day, did I mention that? It just leaves a sour taste in my mouth because I really like most of the products they put out. My grandmother and mother use their own rice cookers and they have a device that is decades old. They never had a problem. But if they ever have a problem, don't expect them to endorse their product and destroy your wife's birthday present.
