Review on DeSoldering Iron 110VAC 40 Watt by Harel Leary

This desoldering iron is excellent for through-hole desoldering. I have no problem getting it warm or staying hot enough to get the job done. It can easily desolder large lead-free connections. The presence of a suction cup and an iron in one greatly simplifies the work than if they were separate. I also like it better than the suction ball desoldering iron I have. I believe this is a higher performing unit than what others are selling where the reviews say they don't have enough heat capacity. I wish the cable was a bit longer, but that's not critical. It also smokes a bit until it breaks in, but doesn't smoke after that. This iron has a fairly large tip, so I only recommend it for through-hole components. it becomes too big for very small components, surface mount components and limited space.
