I took this card to convert an existing M.2 AX200 to an Ubuntu desktop which I use as an IoT gateway. It immediately showed up in the PCI list, but the driver couldn't invoke the interface. I've tried several rounds of different drivers and even upgraded the kernel to a custom 5.2 build. I tried both the main drivers and those provided by Intel. The driver always failed to load. I finally found an article dedicated to this problem. Apparently there is a built in synchronization error in the driver loader. If the firmware doesn't initialize fast enough, it just crashes. Putting this card in an X16 slot adds just enough boot time to fail. He tried some X16 slots and some X1 slots. It works in all X1 slots but not all others. The same results were reproduced in the X8 slot of an old gaming rig. Hope this helps someone else.
