Review on πŸ“Ά AmpliFi HD WiFi MeshPoint: Enhanced Whole Home Coverage and Mesh Network Expansion by Tom Ball

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Someone quickly pulled out

This 1 star rating is not based on the capabilities of the device as a whole but rather on the experience of using a specific refurbished device. Before you speculate as to why a repaired device received a low score, read on. These devices are sold as individual devices or as part of a two-unit kit with an Amplify router. Standalone units can pair with virtually any WiFi router or existing WiFi access point/network and create a mesh to extend the signal, not just Amplify/UniFi. Kit modules only work with that kit and are hardware bound to it. It seems that the person who last bought the device that was sent to me was a scammer and replaced the single device with a complete device and returned it for a refund, keeping the device offline. I believe they did this because these devices sell MUCH more on Revain than on the Amplify website where they are mostly out of stock. Well, this cheat resulted in an hour loss of time before visually determining that the device was part of the kit, which isn't obvious. A real standalone device was then purchased directly from Amplify, which works extremely well. If it had gotten #1 I would give it 5 stars.

Pros
  • WIFI RANGE EXPANDER REPLACEMENT: AmpliFi MeshPoints feature adjustable super antennas that can be discreetly placed virtually anywhere in your home that dead spots need to be covered. Signal strength LEDs are integrated into the design to provide instant and continuous feedback when the system is positioned for optimal performance.
Cons
  • Hard to say
