It was easier to install than I expected and my dog got used to it in about 10 minutes. It feels quite secure as the shoulder and waist straps keep it in place, and the included extension was long enough to attach to the shoulder strap and then the D-ring of my dog harness. This allowed my dog to relax enough to stand up (as in her picture) or lie down comfortably and look in any direction he wanted. My dog is a 13-14 lb Italian Greyhound. I expected her to have a harder time learning this, but after 5-10 minutes she relaxed and enjoyed it. She normally liked car rides, but over 10 years and thousands of car miles, she was always on my lap, wrapped in a blanket with a lap belt holding her in place — not an ideal setting for (God forbid) an airbag or steering wheel crash. . . shift too. This product isn't cheap and not very expensive, but it seems well made and worth the price. I'm happy with the quality and also appreciate the lack of extra packaging materials.
