So it's not a lot, that is a lot, a bit pricey, but I had one of their rice cookers that lasted 15 years with a $12 or $15 silicone part. To make it last so long, I bit the bullet and bought it. The crust is always a bit hard, it can be due to the height, I have to adjust the ingredients, not the baker, you have to look at that. Either way, the bread turns out great and I highly recommend it for that reason. I have to bake a ton of loaves of bread to justify the price, but since the loaves come in loaf form and not stick form, I can live with the price. However, I live in an apartment building and the thing makes a "turndown". I worry that people around me will call the police. The thing is loud and I can feel it in the next room. The other parts of the cycle aren't bad, I mean I can hear them but I'm not sure what it means to knock down but it sounds like there's a sledgehammer or something. I wasn't in the same room, I want to see if the squad moves. That's really the only downside. If I didn't have a bread maker I wouldn't be making bread and like I said the bread is AMAZING and deserves a big bang. I didn't have a bread machine before, my mom had one when I was a kid and I had friends who had one and none of them made loafs of bread. Oh, and I'm single so this is the perfect loaf size for me. I highly recommend it.
