Review on πŸ“ Precision Measuring with Vermont Gage Steel Tolerance Diameter by Nick Beck

Revainrating 5 out of 5

I wish I could buy these instead of the

I bought 6 of these calibers individually to determine the locking lug size I need for a FAL rifle. I bought a Vulcan Arms Locking Shoulder Sizing Rod but it only fits up to .255". FALs built with DS Arms receivers seem notorious for requiring much smaller stop arms, and my FAL is one of those. So I bought all the other sizes from .254" to .244" so I could cover what the dipstick couldn't cover. To be honest I prefer these gauges to the VA dipstick even without a case. A ruler does not have the measurements of each section marked. So if you haven't memorized them all, you'll need to check the size with a micrometer or calipers. My only concern is: - I haven't had a chance to buy 5, 10, 20 or 25 of these in a set (and maybe save some money) - I don't have a case for it. However, these issues relate more to my needs than what these sensors are typically used for. However, the ability to buy in bulk instead of buying the whole set would be nice. I *like* that the dimensions are clearly marked on each of the gauges, but I guess that's to be expected.

Pros
  • dipstick. Available in a variety of sizes from .0040" to 1.0005"
Cons
