If you install a new one and buy it with a big box, it's enough. I wouldn't try to smash the thing up as a replacement. I seriously doubt it will fit into very many outlets that you already have around your house. Upon purchase, I plan to replace the box it fits in. If you are unfamiliar with electricity, this can turn into a real project. All in all, this is a very cool product. It was perfect for my project, but I had to order a special aisle box from Amazon because the stupid bulk box stores don't have big enough boxes. I wanted it to be in the wall by the fireplace and make it look like James Bond. I like the hidden/popup feature. I give the product 5 stars. The idea of replacing an old outlet and just plugging it in in 15 minutes is pretty much bullshit.
