Great gift idea despite some flaws

I (mostly!) love this lighter. The main reason I love it so much is that it's a unique, affordable, and easy gift. It's one of those "I didn't even know I needed it" gifts. I have one for my roommate, my mom and my brother. My mom loves candles, which is why I originally thought of buying her one. Once satisfied with the product, packaging, etc., I bought 3 more (2 to give away, 1 for myself). *Not so good at first: 1. The lighter material seems to have a decent build and quality, not bad but not outstanding (most of the parts aren't metal so I'm guessing it's plastic). Mine has mostly withstood heavy use, but one notable exception is a small plastic element at the very bottom that allows the user to adjust the intensity of the flame. I love that it slides out so you don't have to use tools like most adjustable lighters, making it very convenient. Unfortunately, on all four lighters, this small piece broke off almost immediately after use (one of them broke off this piece before people got used to it!). It wasn't a huge problem for me because I can still adjust the dial with the tip of my thumb, but it was still a bit disappointing that it broke so quickly and literally on every one of the four lighters I've bought . . I suspect this defect is due to extreme cold as liquid is injected into the lighter causing the plastic to loosen and crack, but that's just a guess. 2. I also noticed that a couple of these lighters were a bit trickier than the other two. In other words, they take longer to hold the flame (need to be pressed again for it to ignite). Had I gone for one of the most sophisticated I would have given this product fewer stars, but mine seems pretty consistent so I'm reviewing this based on my own experience. All of this means that I want to keep in mind that there is a possibility that you could have something called bad luck. However, I don't know exactly what these odds are, so be careful with the buyer.3. There is no parental control feature, which may be a hindrance for some! Pros: 1. High "giftedness".2. The lighter comes in a nice presentation (quality box with foam padding, as well as a leaflet in the box with information/instructions). Again nice for gifts and easy to wrap.3. Great lighter for candles and anything in tight or hard to reach places. The bending feature is really cool and gives the lighter even more flexibility.4. Although the lighter cannot be locked in the on position, I really like the design of the trigger. I'm not including this in the "not good" section because I'm pretty sure it's a fuse. / Problem with shipping rules but you need to buy liquid for this lighter - it doesn't come pre-filled! So I would probably buy this product again, but I have to think about it. I don't think I would buy it again if the price went up (I bought this product for $14.99).
