We have a Maytag Neptune front loading washer/dryer on the second floor of our home. This means they sit on a plywood/beam floor base. This also means that there is some compliance compared to laying on the concrete slab on the ground floor. That being said, almost everyone I know has experienced vibration noise from a second floor washer/dryer. Our washing machine tended to run a bit when washing jeans or towels. Sometimes move up to 6 inches! Recommendation - make sure that your devices are level! Did you come here to read about these gaskets and not where my gauges are right? These pads felt firm in my hand, but when you flip them the bottom is semi-hollow. Crossed rubber channels support the top cup and prevent sides from squeezing. Apparently there are other pads that are completely solidly built, but since they're hollow they don't crumple much under the weight of the washing machine. A cavity can actually help reduce vibration because it allows for some flexing, while a solid one can just transfer the shock to the ground. I think it also depends on what it's made of. The round washer/dryer foot fits snugly inside the mug and only elevates it by half an inch. This worked well to reduce the vibration of the felt while using the washing machine. While before installing these pads the whole house sang in unison to the spin, it's even worse when it's full of jeans or towels. The washing machine still tended to run when I tested the duvet and sheets. I will look for another puck solution. PROS: Cost, this is one of the cheapest anti-vibration pads available here at Revain. The plumbing was in place and didn't elevate the instrument too much. If the vibration has decreased, if I had to put a number, I would estimate a 75% reduction in perceived vibration. We should have seen this years ago! CONS: The rubber shrunk a bit after installation. That's understandable as it's hollow at the bottom, but my concern is that over time the rubber will seize and become less flexible, defeating its ability to absorb vibrations. Because there are cutouts at the bottom, there is less surface contact with the floor, so my washing machine still runs during the spin cycle. The main issue. If I were trying to solve the washing machine walking I would keep looking for other answers.
