The price is currently only $70. If you have a desktop computer with a discrete graphics card, that's quite debatable, as most of them already have multiple video outputs in the form of HDMI and Displayport, and sometimes DVI. If you want this as an adapter for a port that doesn't have an unpowered plug adapter, it's probably cheaper anyway. Where I see it's most valuable is perhaps for some laptops that for some reason don't have a video output or are outputting poorly. Nowadays it seems less likely that Intel and AMD will increasingly include decent integrated graphics in their processors, but it can still be very useful for some people.
