Review on SONGMICS 2-Tier Stackable Shoe Rack: Metal Mesh Shoe Organizer for 8-10 Pairs, Short Boots, High Heels - Cool Gray ULMR02GB by Kimberley Cook

Fragile for the money but holds large shoes

At around $34 it was weaker than I expected. The sides are hollow painted metal and the uprights are very thin. It was one of the deepest I could find and really fits my husband's size 14 shoes - can fit 3 per frame. My little one mounted sloping shelves and I tightened the screws - very easy assembly. I have an amazing shoe rack that I bought at least 10 years ago that is way better - wooden sides, heavy shelves with metal bars - I really feel like I got my money's worth. Unfortunately it wasn't big enough for my husband's shoes and I couldn't find it again. Overall it looks good and does the job, but I doubt it will last long. The company is very responsive and contacted me about my comments. It was suggested that the stand might have been assembled incorrectly, which would make sense given the description of how "my little one" built it. However, we read the manual before we started and double-checked our work after the job was done (even assembling a shoe rack can be a lesson). It's possible that the device I received didn't meet the same standards as others. I'm increasing my rating from 3 to 4 stars based on the company's commitment to making things right. Some tweaks to give the item a better look: using a thicker mesh on the shelves, welding a center support bar across the entire shelf (ours was only partially attached), and/or using thicker metal on the support legs. Leveling feet are useful and should definitely be retained. Overall I still think this is an adequate shoe rack that looks good.
