Review on Performance Tool W41035 - Hydraulic Lift for Motorcycles, ATVs, Snowmobiles & More - 1/2 Ton (1,500 lbs) by Jeff Long

I wish I had bought this earlier

I would like to preface this review by knowing that it would not fit my flat HF ground jack and that it would need modification to work with this setup . I was able to cut the shaft off and in its place, using my Bridgeport bit, drilled the correct size hole to mount the shoulder bolt that holds the HF jack mounts. It could also be done if you had the right size drill bit, even in a hand drill. In this case I just used what I already had to avoid wasting money on a large diameter bit that I would most likely only use once. I think the Performance Tool is hurting sales because it doesn't offer the same bracket with the right hole size for mounting on the RF jacks. Maybe they should offer this in the future as HF has discontinued their own version. Now for the review itself. I found the transfer platform to have a good design, far superior to other methods I've used. In the past, this included a jack or two, a scissor gear jack, and simply pulling smaller gears by hand. This method is far superior to all previous ones. Even without a safety chain, the FWD gear box in my car was very stable, and it didn't once wobble or try to fall over like all other non-gear jacks I've used (even better than a scissor jack that would). try tipping over on heavier gears). Another great feature I've used is the tilt adjustment to perfectly align the mating surfaces of the gearbox and motor. While the screw was hard to turn with all that weight on it, it was a lot easier than just turning the gear with my own hands. After aligning everything with it, it was fairly easy to start with a couple of screws and then put it on the dowel pins. The only feature I would add if I could is a screw that allows you to adjust the tilt from side to side, but to be honest it didn't make much of a difference without it. I performed alone, it was the smoothest performance I've ever done. Even with more helping hands and extra eyeballs, you just won't be able to reproduce the features you get with this type of jack mount (or an expensive transmission jack). Once you have everything where you want it, it stays there until you're ready to move it again. Attached to a heavy jack, it won't tip over and just works. I hope I never do another broadcast without this tool again. It should be.
