Zephyrus S15, 32G RAM, 1G HD, 2080 S MAX-Q Day 1 Unpack and Review Well packaged in a sturdy box. As opposed to accessories, some reviewers here say they got it with their laptop, so I got a laptop and charger. That's all. But for the price I can't complain. The laptop feels very sturdy, you feel like you're holding a metal body when you pick it up, rather than a plastic one. Surprisingly small and light, but I have a 2017 Alienware M15 that weighs like an anvil. It loads fast, the keyboard backlight is beautiful. However, there is one (and only one) problem I've found, and it's keyboard-related: As other reviewers have noted, the superscript Shift keys above the number keys (I don't know what they're called) aren't visible in the dark . The number keys are there, but the backlight doesn't extend to the superscript character, so you have to remember that * is Shift-8 if you're playing in a dark room. I'm really not sure how such a design decision ended up in a premium laptop like this. It's almost a deal breaker and it could be for you. It's not for me because yes I know where the * and other characters are, it's just a habit of looking for them and the hardware configuration of this laptop is so unusual for the price ($2299). 32GB of RAM is rare and if you're modding games like Skyrim, Fallout4 or New Vegas you might run out of 8GB of memory if you're playing a resource intensive game on a monitor and have Steam, HWINFO, Process Explorer. and a few tabs in your browser open on another, i felt like 32G would be a better option than 16 if i could find it. Most laptops come with a single 512GB SSD, and how suitable it is depends on how much you want to install, what kind of wallpaper/mp3/mp4 lover you are, how bad you feel when They download big mods etc. I'm bad and my portfolio of games on Steam is huge so 1G is the preferred option as it means less time monitoring my disk usage. Overall, this laptop's hardware far outweighs the annoyingly dim Shift key backlight. The keys have a comfortable feel with a small amount of travel, which is similar to my Alienware. Contrary to what I've read in other reviews (which seemed to apply to different laptops in this family, be sure to read which device they're considering, is Amazon gluing them all together?) Armor wasn't missing, it was there where they was. should be in the start menu. I set the fans to power and the noise wasn't as loud as I expected after reading other reviews. Actually, I think my Alienware fans were louder. I haven't played any resource intensive games so can't speak to that, but I've modified Skyrim with over 100 mods and a few big texture packs, and the GPU temp never went above 61 (but I didn't expect that to be in this game) . I don't buy high-end laptops for the battery (I find it odd that some people seem to know that this configuration drains the battery), so I don't care about the battery life. A webcam is not included. . Good. If the Huxors want to see my pretty face, they can hack my phone. Will post more after further use. Edit: A few days later Crossout, 76 degrees on GPU, 235 fps (three wins lol) Deep Rock Galactic, 77 degrees, 264-280 fps Fallout NV, heavily modified, biggest texture packs I could find: 56 degrees, 88 fps ( wtf bethesda) edit: a few weeks later top notch hardware, no complaints keyboard backlight still annoying all the time (see somewhere above) armory crate is absolutely freaking crazy. It's not that it doesn't work, it works, but it does have an annoying feature. It sets a profile for each game, which is fine, but there's a volume setting. You set the initial volume of the game. It ignores your Windows volume setting and resets it to the setting in the weapon case. Now you have three places to mess with the in-game volume - the game itself, the windows, and the damn gun crate. I'm tempted to remove this silly thing but the fan control is good. Fallout 3 and 4 will not run on this laptop (at least not on mine). Something collides, but I haven't found it yet. Although there are no problems with new games. FalloutNV works, which is odd as I think it came out between 3 and 4. Less bloatware than my Alienware. All in all a great laptop, but quirky. I considered returning it for Alienware but they have their own quirks and the hardware was too good for the price. There are enough annoying quirks that I wouldn't pay for. Wait for it to go on sale.
