We get our water from a well that contains iron so we use a water softener to help us with that but we are still concerned about other things that might be in our water. I don't know exactly how it works, but I've been studying how well ultraviolet light kills various organisms in the air, on objects, or in water. You won't notice a difference in taste as it still tastes like water, but knowing it's proven to work is reassuring. It's pretty easy to join once you understand how basic plumbing works. If not, you can hire a plumber or find someone who knows how to do it. The threaded fittings you will need to attach to your pipes are 1/2" female threads (x2) and our all size pipes are 3/4" Pex. You must be careful to leave enough space to change the lightbulb if necessary. This is a beautiful, well-made pipe. This should take quite a long time. It's easy enough to swap out the bulbs when needed.
