I used this for a backlit soundbar on a jeep. I lost my original wiring harness so I had to make a new one. First, the connection between them is solid and has rubber grommets inside and out where the wires connect. So far I haven't had any problems getting water in. The only thing that really bothers me about this product is that the ends of the wires are short, maybe 3 inches. They don't come stripped, so they can be difficult to take apart if you don't have a puller with a handle. I got a few pins out when I pulled the strip. I ended up just using a razor blade to prevent the pins from being pulled out. If it was pre-stripped or had longer leads, this wouldn't be a problem.
