Summary: This device successfully connects my mid 90's printer to my new computer. Works well with Windows 8.1 and Server 2012 and the drivers provided by Tripp-Lite are easy to install. This cable is used to connect my circa 1998 HP Deskjet 1120 printer to a modern computer that does not have a parallel port. The Centronics/Parallel port attaches securely to the back of the printer, while the USB-A port plugs into any standard USB port. Using the drivers from the Tripp-Lite website, which are also included on the mini-disk that came with it, I installed the cable and it was up and running in less than five minutes. Since installation there have been no problems and my printer works as it used to on a parallel port computer. My computer runs Windows 8.1 and Server 2012/R2, so this device should work with any of the latest Microsoft operating systems (7, 8, Server 2012, etc.). The mini CD may cause problems loading the slot or other CD drives, so it is recommended to download the drivers from the Tripp-Lite website before installing. The only skill required is to install the driver, which can be easily done in Windows from Control Panel -> System -> Device Manager (Hardware). Overall, this device does its job very well and I recommend it when a USB parallel interface adapter is needed.
