Works on Macs

I have several excellent 6 megapixel HP Laserjet printers, they are fantastic. To work with modern computers, they need a special USB-1284 cable. Most of these cables are not suitable for Mac computers. It really works with no problems. I have tested this Tripp Lite U206-006-R IEEE Gold Parallel Printer USB Adapter Cable on several of my Macs. It works every time: Macbook with OS X Snow Leopard 10.6 Power Mac G5 with OS X Leopard 10.5 Power Mac G4 with OS X Tiger 10.4 Power Mac G4 with OS 9.2…

Good Parallel to USB Adapter

Summary: This device successfully connects my mid 90's printer to my new computer. Works well with Windows 8.1 and Server 2012 and the drivers provided by Tripp-Lite are easy to install. This cable is used to connect my circa 1998 HP Deskjet 1120 printer to a modern computer that does not have a parallel port. The Centronics/Parallel port attaches securely to the back of the printer, while the USB-A port plugs into any standard USB port. Using the drivers from the Tripp-Lite website, which are…

LaserJet 4L on Windows 7 x64 PC

I work from home and just got a new laptop from work. In order to continue using my 20-year-old HP LaserJet 4L workhorse (unmatched quality. HP no longer makes printers of this quality), I needed a USB-to-parallel adapter. I was familiar with the Tripp-Lite name and had read good reviews here, so I didn't mind paying over $20 for quality. Out of the box I connected the Tripp-Lite cable to the laptop and installed the Windows drivers. It showed it as an unknown device. So I connected the other…

Amazing, fully FUNCTIONAL Just plug and play!

I don't normally buy anything gold plated and had no idea the cable quality could make a huge difference, but this quality parallel USB printer cable from Tripp Lite is worth it. I just hooked up my Dell laptop to my old HP laser printer and it works. Period. No ports or menus to fiddle with, Windows will identify the printer and install it immediately. I can't believe the $10 upgrade made a difference. I had the "cheap" option and it never worked, I spent hours and hours reinstalling each…

Not (fully) compatible with Mac

It looks like a very well designed product. Unfortunately, of course, it doesn't have to be Mac-compatible, which I only found out after purchasing it. Since the driver wasn't included, I looked around and found one that basically worked. The only problem was that the printer was reported as offline, which I was able to fix by plugging in the USB. When I contacted the company, they informed me that the device driver I found was for the display and not the printer. They stated that the device is
