So it's good that initially this solved my problem that I didn't have enough wires on my fan to control fan speed and lights as I needed 4 wires, to control the fan and the lighting and further the fan there were only three wires. The bad news is that both the fan and light can turn on at different speeds at random times, rendering them unusable. I live in the country with only one roommate. I'll try changing the DIP switches but not sure if that fixes the problem. It seems that every flicker in the power supply can cause the fan or light to turn on. BTW the brand of what I received was Westinghouse but the picture matched. So we changed the dip switches and for two weeks there was no problem. The dimming function does not work, but there is no need to worry. So it solved the problem of being able to control both the light and the fan with what used to be just a light switch. So there is no need to retire, which is tremendous value.
