I bought this particular model of impact drill because I had several other tools in the Dewalt range. All Dewalt tools that I have had before are of high quality, durable and do the job more than adequately. However, this perforator was the exception to the rule! When I use it to drill holes in a concrete foundation to install anchor bolts, I have found that it generates a large amount of heat. It didn't last more than a few minutes of use to find that it soon overheats if I don't use it in short intervals. I also didn't put too much weight on the tool and made the weight of the tool itself and the heavy gripping pressure determinative of the drilling depth and speed. My friend had the same model and the same result. Does anyone know what an electric motor smells like when it's about to burn out? This thing still works and I've used it as needed for the past few years, but I think I "want" to be a good hammer drill owner, I'd rather look at another brand. Handy Dan
