Great while it lasts.

One of a dozen Dewalt tools I've owned, this drill bit was the first to fail. The engine drew its last breath today before emitting a puff of smoke and then dying. The motor overheated easily under load (quite a smell) and was obviously underrated for a lot of the work I used it for. I would not recommend it for drilling holes larger than 1/4 inch in diameter. Also, the forward/reverse switch broke within the first week of operation, making changing direction very uncomfortable from that point…

Dewalt should get back to the drawing board with this one!

As a professional DIYer, I've had tools from almost every brand. Most of my power tools are Makita and my nail guns are Senco. I've used the spare bit about 3 or 4 times and have drilled holes for 1/2" anchor bolts with no…

Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose!

I bought this particular model of impact drill because I had several other tools in the Dewalt range. All Dewalt tools that I have had before are of high quality, durable and do the job more than adequately. However, this perforator was the exception to the rule! When I use it to drill holes in a concrete foundation to install anchor bolts, I have found that it generates a large amount of heat. It didn't last more than a few minutes of use to find that it soon overheats if I don't use it in…

Pros
  • Impact Drills
Cons
  • Slightly dented
