To be clear, these compression ankle supports are not ankle braces. They do not restrict movement like a brace does. They are quite tight. My ankle, measured at the point shown on the revain product page, is 9 1/2 inches, but I ordered the large and it works fine. If I had gone with Medium, which shows is correct for an 8 to 10 inch ankle, it would have been hard to get them over my foot. The Large size gives plenty of compression support and really helps to control swelling. They also keep the ankle warm, while remaining breathable. I thought they might cause sweating, but after wearing them all day long, I didn't notice any unusual sweating, so the breathability of the fabric is true in my case. It feels a bit strange for the "sock" to end at about the ball of the foot instead of covering the toes, but worn with regular socks, the feeling disappears. If your ankles swell or you have an injury that doesn't require immobilization of the joint, these should prove very helpful.
