I selected size large based on their sizing chart. I measured my ankle in the designated spot, and it measures about 11". Large fits 10"-12". When the toeless socks first arrived, I thought it might be too big- they are thick and sturdy. But, the amount of compression they offer is just right, and therefor really is the correct fit. Comfy too!I use this style of socks for compression first and foremost. Any additional support is bonus. I get swollen ankles and legs, especially when it is humid out. My mornings start off with normal, bony ankles. As the day progresses whether I have been moving around a lot or sitting a lot, I get swollen. And sometimes a little sore in the ankle area. I typically wear knee high compression socks, but don't always want or need a full sock. The ankle sleeves are a great change up from the full sock when it is hot, or I just dont feel like wearing a full sock. Full socks are best for me, but I am stubborn and just want shorter socks on occasion. I have worn this style of ankle sleeve before, so I wanted to try these to see how they compare. These have great coverage- are a little longer and thicker than others. Great compression!I have had some that were terrible, and some that have been great. This set is very much on the great side. They are thicker and feel like even better quality than the ones I have that I like. I will buy more of these.I immediately felt the pleasant tingle from the compression. Energizing!And as my second pics shows, the compression in that area helped me from not getting too swollen. The line where the sock ends is a good thing-- it shows that it was compressing in that spot, helping fluids from retaining in that area, and overall helping my circulation (from venous insufficiency). I took picks at start of day and at end. I have worn them most days over the past week. I hand wash or warm water wash in washing machine. They wash well, and with every other compression style sock, I let them air dry only.I find them easy to put on and take off. They stay in place. They are the most comfortable of all the ankle sleeve I have used. They dont stink despite my wearing them all day.I really wouldn't call these a brace. But they do offer effective compression and support. So maybe it is just a terminology thing.
