This is for the Black/Lead colorway. The upper is a rich deep black (it looks more gray in the product photo). Really just a joy to look at - lots of cool textures, very subtle, with a tiny, tiny patch of bright orange on the heel that only matches the same color on the plastic tip of the toe. The New Balance "NB" logo is slightly embossed on the front, not ugly at all. The overall look of the shoe is slim and slightly high, but not chunky. I've worn other supportive wide-based platypus-like shoes, but they somehow hide the elements of external stability and aren't visible at all. Very high quality workmanship, light weight, immediately feels like support. The sockliner has a firm feel, not as soft as something like the React, but since I often tuck my ankles in, I wanted to feel some sort of firm grip, and that's about it. I wasn't expecting to be blown away by the aesthetic, but I was. I love her.
