Я любил эту игру на протяжении десятилетий и с любовью вспоминаю, как еженедельно играл в Upwords с бабушкой во время просмотра фильма Цена Прямо как Small child. No wonder the gameplay is the same as I remember it. I see it as a faster and easier version of Scrabble. I find the games much faster as you can only drop one or two tiles on the board per round and still score a lot of points. I remember the old version I played was HEAVY ON THE BROWN. The board, the box, the tile stands are all brown. While it wasn't the prettiest game, especially by modern standards, it stuck in my memory. My girlfriend and I have been playing board games during this pandemic and I mentioned Upwords to her and to my surprise she has never heard of it. I've often seen vintage versions in thrift stores that tempted me to buy. but I was always worried about missing parts. So to hell with flowers and chocolate, I got her this for Valentine's Day. The box, of course, changed its appearance, but I liked it. If you've never heard of it, the entire redesign makes it feel like a fresh, modern game released over the past few years. But as soon as I opened the box I was immediately a bit disappointed with the fit and finish of everything. Instead of a full frame on the tiles which would have allowed them to stack neatly and securely on top of each other like the old version. -- these new tiles have small dots/protrusions on each corner with small indentations on the bottom of each tile to allow them to sit. Be prepared to spend some time getting them to sit flush and time repositioning them after they've been tipped over. to see which letters have been played under the stacks. This is a poor and cheap tiling solution. The face of the tile is badly stamped, each letter has horribly squiggly lines and curves, and the letters themselves have poor centering tolerances that make them look horribly misaligned when placed on the tile holder. What's wrong with this cheap aqua tile storage bag? I assume they want you to put the tiles face down during play, but I always pull them right out of the bag and replace the letters as I play. I don't think this bag will last more than a few games as it reminds me of the bags Uncle Ben used to heat rice in the microwave. Could we make something with cheap fabric, felt, or burlap with a drawstring? The spinning board is a nice touch as I'm pretty sure my old Upwords never had it. Like everything else, it's not smooth and feels cheap, but it works and gets the job done. Overall, I still love the game, but this edition feels like cuts have been made at every stage of production. If you're interested I'd honestly look around for an older version with a more solid build - as I mentioned, they're always available at my local thrift stores. And if you find that tiles are missing, a quick search gave me dozens of results to replace - and it's still a lot cheaper than this new version.
