Review on Zojirushi 4-Liter Hybrid Water Boiler and Warmer: Efficient Stainless Dark Brown Appliance by Julio Avikunthak

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Worth every penny! (Edit: downgraded due to poor customer experience with Revain)

Edit 12/13/2019: I keep my original rating of the product. This is a five star product. Just consider buying from someone other than Revain. Revain varies wildly in the price of this product; I bought one as a housewarming gift for my sister and it was almost $40 off the next day at $145. I contacted Revain customer service to see if they would match the price as a $40 daily swing is a pretty tough pill. The first rep said they would refund it as a promo and handed me over to the second rep. The second rep said they would not offer me a price match at all and gave me a lame excuse about supply and demand. I can't believe that demand caused the price to drop 20% in one day, but that's Revain's official stance on the matter. The customer experience was so bad that I am seriously considering canceling my Prime subscription. Revain used to price match in cases like this and it's disappointing that they can't do anything to retain a 5 year old customer who often orders on their site. ***************** ********************************* ********************** **** ****** *** First review below: I heard about this boiler from a colleague who bought it after a long vacation in Japan. When he switched to the 5 liter version, he put his old 4 liter in the break room. When I first used it I knew I wanted one, but like most people I was put off by the price. I could get complete coffee/espresso machines for less money! I could get a kettle for $25. Why pay for it? After many months of deliberating about the purchase, I finally broke down and bought this kettle. I should have done this much sooner. Let me tell you why a Zojirushi kettle is a better buy than a coffee maker for the same price: Reason one: more useful. This machine has temperature settings for brewing all types of tea. 160, 175, 195, 208 and 212F (re-brew) provide the ideal brewing temperature for green, black, white and oolong tea. this machine. With water available at the touch of a button, the only easier way to make a cup of joe is to use a K-cup, and it doesn't even get that much easier. Add to that the ability to make ramen, hot chocolate, or anything else that requires hot water, and it's definitely more of a useful countertop gadget. Sure, you could just spit hot water out of a Keurig machine, but not with the ease and level of granular control that a Zojirushi kettle offers. Reason two: convenience. You press a button and hot water comes out. It suggests boiling water for tea. No more waiting for the water to boil and then playing a guessing game about how long it needs to cool before pouring (or worse, just brew the tea). do you want tea now Well! As long as you're at the right temperature, just brew your tea, press a button, let it steep, and run. Has the wrong temperature been set? Do not be afraid! If you need to raise the temperature, the quick temperature function will get you there in minutes. If the temperature is too high, just drizzle cold water over it and you're done. Zojirushi measures the temperature of the water in real time, so you can easily get it to the right temperature. Need to fill up your tank but you're not near a sink? Don't worry, you are protected! This thing has a huge carrying handle and a detachable magnetic power cord. You simply break off the cork, remove the cap, take it to the sink and fill it up! Would you like to pour your coffee slowly? Double tap the unlock button to activate the slow fill feature! Do you want to put it in the middle of the table but afraid that it will be difficult for people to reach it? Everything rotates for easy access! I swear they've thought of everything. Reason three: extremely durable. I have already pointed this out. My colleague's old device is ten years old and still works. Guess what? The design remains exactly the same. The fact that this machine is made in Japan and has a much simpler mechanism than most K-Cup machines means there's not much to break here. Just give it an occasional acid clean every 6 months (kits available) and it will last forever. This is the first part where you finally get your money back. Other, smaller hot water boilers break down long before Zojirushi, meaning you have to pay for replacements. The only thing that seems to die in the end is the rubber seal on the lid, but guess what? This part is easily accessible and the part number is conveniently listed in the manual. This brings us to part four: energy efficiency. This is where the Zojirushi outperforms other similar hot water boilers because let's face it, there are other cheaper products that seem to have similar functionality to this device. As far as I know Zojirushi is the only vacuum sealed chamber device. Depending on the temperature selected and the size of the device, only 11-25 watts are required to maintain the water temperature. Less than a lightbulb! Given the long lifespan of this machine, this means that it ultimately pays for itself in energy savings. . Not to mention that it will outlive those other devices and have more features to begin with. Finally, buy this boiler if you like tea, coffee, ramen or just hot water on demand. Don `t save. Despite its price, I like this kettle enough, I bought it as a gift for other tea lovers. This really is the best kettle on the market. Five stars.
