I have been using a portable ryobi fan around the house when a hot flash comes on. It is strong, has a long battery life, etc. But it is big and heavy (especially at night). I had a trip planned and knew I couldn't take it on the airplane, so I had to find something small. This was perfect and the high speed is high. The battery life is excellent and the light weight is perfect to carry in purse. The button turns on easily if pressed by something in the purse and there is no battery indicator so you don't know when it is going to die, until it does, leaving you helpless in the midst of a flash, but if you top it off once a week or so, you'll be fine. A honest to goodness lifesaver!
