So I built a new computer after working on the old one for more than 5 years without updating anything. I opted for an AIO water cooler in this new build and chose an appropriately configured case. Unfortunately, I didn't think to account for the spacing on the motherboard and memory heatsinks, and when it came time to install I found that the motherboard memory slots were way up on the board and the huge "wings" , which made up the memory heatsinks, further exacerbated this problem. In fact, when I installed the AIO with the included fans, they covered the memory slots so slightly that even a stick without a heatsink couldn't (barely) fit in. I knew I had seen thin form factor fans. before, and I know Noctua has a great reputation (apart from their ugly color scheme). I picked them up and they fit the AIO easily and provided enough room for the memory cards to fit into the slots successfully. Best of all, they're even cheaper than the fans that originally came with the AIO, and they're very quiet. Price seems to be the only downside to these fans as they match or beat your average 120mm in every other way. Of course there are also ugly colors, but fortunately they are not yet visible on the roof of my case.
