I had many doubts about doing this work, but in the end it turned out that it wasn't so bad. Apparently the Chevy engineers decided that when they put this block in the car, they would place it in a spot where they could replace the clutch without removing the block. A pulley puller is not required. Make sure you use quality snap ring pliers as the cheap ones aren't strong enough for this.
