Good monitor with some weaknesses

I pulled the trigger on this monitor to replace a 27" 165Hz gsync monitor that had a very noticeable scratch on the top of the monitor. I chose it for several reasons. First, the price wasn't that low when I bought it. (about $350). Second, some Q&A said it was loose sync but compatible with G-Sync. Third, it was curved and had a WQHD resolution, which wasn't available on my 27-inch monitor. the relationship is great. The colors put the old monitor in the shade by far. The dark ones are great, and the light ones are bright. But even after the brightness has been REDUCED COMPLETELY, it's still too bright for everyday viewing (especially on white background sites like Amazon). In the second point, the Nvidia Control Panel states that this monitor is NOT G-Sync compatible. However, across multiple tests including Heaven, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Far Cry 5, and playing Ark Survival Evolved, GTA V, and Conan Exiles, I didn't experience screen tearing with active G-Sync like the NVIDIA Control Panel. as well as in the game. benchmark settings. I have to say that I noticed a 10-15 frame drawdown compared to my old monitor. Not enough to disrupt the gameplay as I'm not playing for the frames, I'm playing for the graphics and the story. And in the third paragraph I explain enough how great the picture is. The curve is easier on the eye than my flat screen I've used before. said Nuff there. The biggest issue I've had with this monitor is that the backlight flickers around the edge from time to time depending on the game I'm playing. It's very distracting, but usually stops after a moment or two. I can't seem to pinpoint the exact reason for this. All in all, this is a good monitor for gaming, but if you have sensitive eyes that can be bothered by flicker, I'd look elsewhere. I'm planning on getting another monitor probably in the next year, but now I see that this one does the job.
