I didn't have high expectations for this set especially after receiving it. It is a standard flat magnet with a 'sticker' of sorts showing the pattern. The plastic grips are rather shabby, but I liked the curved section that sits comfortably on the finger. I was pleasantly surprised to see that each design created a different effect on the nails. Follow the instructions, figure out how close you can hold them to the nail without damaging the polish, how long you should hold the magnet over the wet polish, then immediately cure each nail after applying the effect. In this photo I tried varnish with tools for the first time and was very satisfied with the effect. Despite the cuticles and the quality of the home manicure, I didn't edit the photo :-) I don't have the patience to wait for the standard polish to dry, so the gel was definitely fine. I first put another magnet on top to increase traction but found I didn't really need it. For less than $20 I got 6 paint colors and 11 tools. We look forward to learning the best technique and many more manicures at home.
