Comfortable fit. Elastic band on each instep, not too much. They are very snug, as water boots should be, to keep them from falling off. As long as the rubber band is on the rise, it doesn't bother me much; However, the shoes were not completely wet. I think that will increase friction. Throwing yourself in beach sand can be a deal breaker.
