Review on πŸ”‹ Briggs & Stratton 694393 Fuel Solenoid: Efficient Replacement Part for Optimal Performance by Skyy Strickland

Revainrating 5 out of 5

My problem was solved: Solenoids

My 16 year old Craftsman lawn mower started fine and ran for 15-20 minutes. Once heated, he would cough and stop for lack of gas or air. Wait 5 minutes and it will restart. Air filter, gas filter and gas hoses changed - without success. I cleaned the gas cap and started the tractor with the gas cap loose, but that didn't help either. A YouTube video showed that a magneto mounted on a carburetor can fail in two ways. Most often it fails when the carburetor and cylinder are fully open and the engine is not running. A less common fault occurs when the motor and solenoid are hot and pull out of the closed position, cutting off the gas supply. That was my situation. I bought this part and installed it. the task is solved. Three homemade notes. You will need to drain the gas tank and lines, and removing the existing magnet will also leak gas. Getting ready. Also, this replacement solenoid valve DOES NOT include a metal gasket/washer: be sure to remove and reuse this washer from the removed solenoid valve. Lastly I used a 13mm bike wrench to install as bike wrenches are flimsy. If the price of this solenoid puts you off, there's a non-Briggs & Stratton knockoff that's about half the price. I decided not to experiment with unknown quality.
