My old and tired Zefal Double Shot broke its horrible tube head and after looking for a replacement I came across this Planet Bike tube and head. This is now being made as a quick and easy replacement for one of their own pumps, thought I might get it working. Thanks to Prime's fast shipping, I had it the next day. And when I took apart the Planet Bike head I saw that as long as it fits my Zefal tube I can make it work. So I removed the hose insert which gives a nice and tight fit without the need for a hose clamp. I then cut off the crimp on my old Zefal tube, slipped the lag screw onto the Zefal tube and inserted the inner piece into my tube. The only issue I had was that my Zefal hose is a bit larger and I had trouble getting the tensioner over the hose. This could have been fixed by making the hole bigger, but I was lazy and figured I could do it. Which I did, so no big deal. Then he lowered his head and turned everything around. Voila! What I didn't understand now was how well the Planet Bike head fits my Presta hoses, how well it seals completely and easily, and how easy the head lever works to tighten the Presta valve. With my original Zefal head it was very difficult every time I attached it to the tube and many times I had to redo it as it was leaking. Sometimes it would seal first and then start leaking as pressure built up during inflation, requiring complete removal and reattachment to complete inflation of the tube. Well, I'm happy with this new head and if I had known how much better and lighter this Planet Bike head works, I would have snapped off the old one a few months ago, even if it hadn't broken. Never doubt the power of pulleys and levers; This is pure physics! Happy pumping!
