. I thought they were already set up for family radio service. So I plan to use them along with a number of other FRS radios I already own for use by our Emergency Response Team (CERT). But I was wrong. I have to program them for this purpose by first selecting ComPort and then using spreadsheet programming software. I can do it, but it will take a lot of time that I didn't plan to spend. It's COMPLETELY my fault for not reading the Revain information more carefully. BUT! This is not bad news for me. I'm a licensed ham radio operator and in addition to FRS I also have a few UHF repeater ham radio channels to use as well! That's a very good deal - by accident. The build quality seems pretty good and I'm sure they will fit me. The accessory pack is very useful and appreciated, as are the extra batteries. UPDATE FEBRUARY 24, 2020 - I found that I had a Baofeng programming cable and it turned out that these radios are very similar to the Baofeng BF-88 and BF-888. . I used "CHIRP". and they reprogrammed the Fed fairly easily. I also have a couple of 440 ham radio repeaters (14 FRS channels and 2 UHF ham radio repeaters. Nice 'tone' to hear. They have joined the 'mixed fleet' of 3 different HT manufacturers for the CERT group and everyone is happy. -- 73- -
