Buyer Warning! on Electrical

Update September 18, 2021 I bought a GE 18279 wireless wall switch in 2017 and it still works today September 18, 2021. So I'm offering a 'working' alternative to anyone interested. . Much luck! Update from 03/14/2017 Today the wall switch no longer worked. The battery is OK, the switch block no longer switches the light on. This is my second unit I bought from "AmerTac RFK100LC" that stopped working after less than a year. save your money Update 07/12/2016 I installed it on the day of its arrival, January 20, 2016. Today it no longer works, the problem lies in the wall bracket. The light on the wall mount no longer turns on when plugged into an active outlet (I verified the outlet is working with my voltmeter and another lamp). The battery in the switch is still good. Since this wireless switch only costs about 13€, I will buy another one, no star required, I still recommend this switch. I will update if the new one fails then I will buy a GE 18279 wall switch remote with 1 socket receiver. Original Review: January 17, 2016 As advertised. Ease of installation. I needed a wireless switch because I wanted a light over my sink and didn't want to cut out the existing tile to accommodate the wired switch. I routed the wire through the attic to the light source location, added a single outlet and junction box, plugged the receiver into a rewired junction box in my attic about 12 inches from the newly installed light source, and then plugged in new holder into the socket. What. I then removed the cover from the wireless switch to remove the plastic tip from the battery connector and replaced the wireless switch cover. This worked as expected. (I tested the wireless connection in every room in my house, and there wasn't a single spot where he didn't turn the lights on and off). However I had to use double sided tape to attach the wireless switch to the tile, drywall anchors were included but I had double sided tape in my tool box. Since I have strips of double sided tape (about 1/8 inch thick tape) on the back, the exit hole sticks out about 1/2 inch. I've attached an image to help anyone in their search.
