To some traditional quilters, subparts are known as the "f " word. You wouldn't be surprised to say or use it.

This is a product that didn't exist when our ancestors made blankets. There is a different "look" when you use it for an applique. This allows you to create serious angles that would be difficult with traditional quilting. I use this product for fusible applications. It is ironed onto a cloth backing. Then it is sewn to the fabric. It needs to be crosslinked for long lasting results. There are many different brands of interfaces on the market. I've tried many of these. I keep coming back to this brand. That's it, What I'm looking for in fusible interfaces: 1. The edges of the fabric should not pill after being ironed onto the backing.2. Should be ironed flat. If you turn the fabric over and look at the front side, you should see a completely smooth surface with no wrinkles, lumps, bulges, or bubbles.3. The fused tissue should not be rigid. In this case, the fabric should not be soft.4. You do not need to re-iron areas where the backing does not come off. The backing should be easy to remove.6. The lining should stick to all parts of the fabric. When loosening, the fabric must be completely covered with a liner. The heavy Heat'n Bond material doesn't meet my criteria as it's too stiff. Steam-a-Seam has the ability to unravel the fabric, after being ironed on the wrong side. I like this feature, but the fabric seems to fray when released. I really don't think this feature is perfect and it's getting harder and harder to find. The fabric is frayed even without getting rid of. I had issues with blisters when using it. It doesn't seem to cover the fabric completely. I've had issues with Pellon 808 wear. Heat'n Bond is my favorite fusing product. I like it. The Fuseable interface is a very personal choice. Fuse quilters are very loyal to their brands as they love what their favorite brand has to offer. The fabric is frayed even without getting rid of. I had issues with blisters when using it.
