The clip is very tight which is good but if you have fine motor skills the clip may be difficult for you. You can use pliers to secure the vent fins. Our car didn't need the fins to cover the vent as ours is well past the vent. We are concerned about the phone's heat and overheating. Whoever came up with the hot idea for the sticky-bottomed suction cup was just plain stupid. The instructions don't say that for temperatures above 60°. This means that it only works in winter. I plan on using mine on my desk because I always lose my phone among papers anyway. Now if they could design one of these with a lever that somehow attaches to the rearview mirror so I can see and use my phone's or Waze's GPS that would be really cool. (Note, manufacturer's note). The only problem was, what no one thought of, that although it has a mounting bracket, we need it at the bottom to get the right viewing angle and use of the machine, but the air nozzle wobbles back and forth there, it's impossible to mount the device with a rail to stabilize. I will NOT stick anything into the side of the vent to close the vent and risk breaking it in the vent or I will not be able to use the vent. At the same time, we both live on the fact that the charger and the phone grip are working NOW, they are safe in themselves. We have 2 USB ports so we don't have to buy a cigarette lighter adapter and I like that we have a lot less wear and tear from plugging in our phone multiple times a day.
