Installed on my Mercedes C450 with M276 engine. I angled it so that it was pointing down at an angle, but still 1/2 inch higher than the protective metal brace in front of it. The metal frame next to it is at the same level as the drain valve. When the plastic skid plate is put back on the valve it will be 2 inches, maybe more. I think it's a good place to dump but not too low to worry about running over things on the road (besides the metal cross brace up front there are of course a few other things underneath including a large skid plate) . ). If you prefer you can flip it horizontally and buy a 90 degree plastic jig to deflate it. I am satisfied with the purchase, it will make draining the oil faster and easier to control so as not to spill it. In addition, drain plugs no longer have to be squeezed.
