Dangerously incompatible for reloading scales

Dangerously incompatible for a product sold to reload scales with tiny powder sizes. The first one I bought was completely inaccurate - multiple grains of different weights of the same item over and over again, it "stabilized" and after a few seconds randomly dropped 0.3-0.6 grams. Got it against a second one Traded in scales which worked better but I would still get a 1.0 grain difference per 3-20g drop of powder which can be disastrous for reloading lighter powder cartridges (pistol, 300blx). Things seemed to get better when the powder weight exceeded 20g, but the reproducibility was still poor, 0.3-0.5g error when weighing the same powder several times. Tried various tests all evening - let it warm up for hours. in an isolated room, on a solid stand, no vibration, no vents or fans in the room, etc., recalibrated several times, turned off and on a few times, then recalibrated each time. Make sure the pan is on the scale and zero it with that extra weight. I ran him through the slingshot several times with a set of 210.5g test weights, which gave him plenty of time after he dropped a new weight on him. even a weight of 0.5 grams does not increase. Weights weighing 1.0 g were added separately above, which was found in most cases, but the readings from each of them differed by 0.3-0.5 g. Weights weighing 2g were found each time, but again the readings were inaccurate ( 0.5g+ ). The weight of 5 g was 100% determined, but the variation was still 0.2-0.5 g. As soon as I introduced weights of 10g, 20g, 50g and 100g it started to work much more accurately and overall the difference was only 0.2-0.3 grams when there was a whopping 210.5 grams on the scale . but not with 0.1 g accuracy as advertised. I think it would be a decent and inexpensive option for people reloading 50 BMG or heavy magnum ammo. For the rest of the 99% overcharge, save your time and hassle and avoid this product. I have another company's 1500 pocket scale which is 30% smaller and cheaper and actually works as advertised.

Pros
  • Not only useful for its intended purpose
Cons
  • Has flaws
