I am in school to be an airplane mechanic and part of my education was hooking up various electrical devices. Part of this involves cutting and stripping wires. The Klein wire strippers are the best I've ever used. In the past I've mostly used a pliers-type wire stripper and I've always had trouble stripping, especially stranded wire. Either the insulation didn't cut all the way through, or some threads broke or were severed. They allow the wire to be stripped quickly and easily. You align the wire with the right gauge and compress it. The posts won't be broken or ripped off, and the insulation is removed cleanly every time. I have more experience cutting wires. I've used some really good plier style wire cutters and some really terrible ones. Again, these are some of the best I've used. The problem I've had with other wire cutters is that the end of the wire becomes pointy because most cutters have a V-blade. The insulation will stretch around the end, which can make removal difficult. Also, it doesn't look as nice as when it's flush. These wire cutters have a hole where you insert up to 10 gauge wire, squeeze and get a nice clean cut, no tight insulation, no length of wires, just a flush cut that makes life so much easier. For $30 it should be if you work with copper wire on a regular basis. The only thing I would like is interchangeable dies for the strippers like some of the more expensive strippers of this style do. The smallest wire you can strip with theses is 20 gauge, which is usually fine for the work I'll be doing with them. However, many electronic devices use 22 or 24 gauge wire, so it's a bit disappointing that they don't work for these sizes. Other than that, I really can't think of anything I miss about them. They're simple, practical, easy to use and they just work. I will update my review if anything comes up while using them but as of this writing they have been amazing.
