So I had a lot of Nuova Simonelli Aurelia machines (world champion barista machine) in my house that required a 20 amp circuit for a lot of the lower end machines like Brevilles and Delonghi (not a fan of Delonghi). You never buy a capsule machine to save money - you buy it to save time. I think they figured out that if you buy Nespresso brand coffee in capsules, you're essentially paying around $50 a pound, which is insanely expensive. However, if you compare the convenience of a good latte, which will cost you about a dollar, to $5-7 Starbucks tea coffee, you're safe. So what do I think of this car? i really like it I can make a latte while my other machine heats up. This machine runs in 3 seconds and my other machine - I have to grind, tamp and then my other machine still heats up in about 30 seconds. He could probably make a few cups before my professional machine even gets hot. I love making things myself and enjoy the art of chopping, pounding, weathering and know my skills but to be honest sometimes all I want is a quick, consistently good latte or flat white. The car will definitely arrive. I love how hot it makes the shot, love that everything is adjustable, and love that I can brew coffee two minutes before a meeting. (I can't even warm up my other cars) I bought one for work and took it home and my wife liked it so much she asked me to keep it. I ordered another one for my dad because he loved mine so much I had to give him one. The following settings work for me: Flat White - milk level 2, latte milk level 5 and cappuccino milk level 8. They are closer to reality with these settings. Please don't judge my bad latte art - I've just tried a few with the machine and thought I'd post them to show you how close to reality you can get with this machine the first time. I'm sure if I did a few tries I could probably make them a little more symmetrical. The point is, you can still enjoy it. So you might be wondering if it's fit for a full-fledged pro machine? First of all of course not, I can make a better picture with latte art and milk texture on a real machine, have more options and much more. I can get a much better and more authentic foam on a professional machine. With a professional machine, I can pick exotic beans and taste insanely weird, and half the fun of coffee is making it. (although the Nespresso has a few different models worth trying, including some good third party brands like Pete etc.) That being said, it shouldn't compete with a professional machine. This is a home machine for less than $500. We are talking about a HUGE price difference on a professional machine which can be in the 10k to 15k range for a good machine like the Aurelia. (And you still have to buy a Mazzer coffee grinder for 1-2 thousand!) Owning a professional machine is a lot of work and expensive. I also find that I can spend more on a coffee maker - you have to drink enough to swallow a bag of beans before they go through the first month of roasting. it's consistently good and very fast. I think this is a great addition to any home.
