Installed on a 1999 Hond CRV, Automatic, Unprogrammed Key. The actual step of replacing and installing this node was fairly easy, but it took longer to prepare. You will need to remove the plastic liner and expose the cylinder itself. my process Once all the fairings and other parts attached to the cylinder have been removed and the cylinder is exposed, you will also need to remove the small screw at 12 o'clock that secures the mini trailer. Don't forget the big screw at 3 o'clock as well. .There is a small hole at the 9 o'clock position, you need to insert a thin nail, a precision screwdriver or a small Allen key. As you look at the new cylinder, notice the small cylinder moving up/down. You're trying to suppress that. When you're done, pull the cylinder. The key must be in ignition position 1 and not yet completely removed. Once it's out a bit, notice the 12 o'clock metal tab that was underneath that little strap. It prevents you from completely removing the cylinder. Try to squeeze this tab and remove the cylinder completely. The cylinder should come out. Replacement is the reverse process. There should be no resistance when removing or installing a new cylinder. The metal tab is the only mechanical component holding it in place once all of the previous steps have been completed. You insert a new cylinder. After buttoning the ignition cylinder, perform a power test to start the vehicle. Start the whole process with POS batt terminal removed before work. Worth adding one. This was an inexpensive repair/replacement for a cylinder not turning to start the car. Another option is to replace the entire ignition component, which costs more and requires shearing off the bolt. If you had to replace an entire ignition component, think of all the wires that were connected if you have an aftermarket car alarm. You need to route some electrical wires and connect to new wires. The tools I used were a small Allen wrench, a small Phillips screwdriver, a medium socket. Some may need to use a Torx T30 security head. I had a complete ignition component ready to go if that cylinder swap didn't work and it had TORX SECURITY T30 bolts. Much luck.
