I regret this purchase. After about 7-8 months, the USB cable that powers the fans stopped working. The fans turn on and off depending on the movement of the cable. Useless now as I don't want the shorting cable blowing up the USB port on my laptop. I contacted manufacturer support and they contacted me but didn't help in any way. After customer service couldn't fix it, I took a closer look at the USB cable and found that the wires inside the jacket are super-thin, cheap wires like those made for super-cheap headphones, and nowhere near thick enough to carry a constant current to deliver fans! No wonder someone else said they smell like smoke. The USB cable is also soldered directly into the fans and cannot be replaced. Shame on Targus for hiding cheap components inside the device and passing it off as a quality product. Because they sold me a bad product disguised as a good one and their customer service was unhelpful, I will never buy any of their products again. Never Targus.
