I bought XL for my 100 lb son because he wears XL in regular clothes. It's a bit big even on him, so it's a bit wrinkled in the legs and arms, but then it barely fits around his torso (it's a bit chubby in the middle). I think it's pretty close to true size given the weight, that's the problem. It's too long for my 4ft 5in boy. If your child is over 100 pounds, even X-Large won't fit, so skip that and buy an adult size in a size small or so. I think it's mostly due to my son's shakiness as he's a little short but heavier than most. The material is comfortable. There is a seam running up and down the entire suit (imagine two pieces sewn together) that you will have to twist and tug to get everything in place, but overall it will do the trick for the suit.
