A magnet is like replacing points and a capacitor; They must be replaced together. Therefore, the assembly is always replaced and not its individual parts. Rule of thumb: what you do on one side of the axel, do it on the other. A pair for repairs is always needed. Update: They don't last as long as I expected. I was expecting the same durability as the automatic brakes, or at least half as much as the camper is heavier. nope Not even close. I replace these units every two years or LESS (about 10,000 miles of interstate driving). I'd say my old tractor trailer doesn't have a Pakbrake engine so the camper's brakes take a real hit on the descent, but at the same time the truck's brakes work too and they don't suffer the same.
