Unlike many other kits sold which only include 7.023MHz which is only legal for EA licensed operators, 7.050MHz is also legal for T/G. Don't be fooled by the distortion as this is receive only and will only transmit on the frequency of the crystal installed. I found the supplied L1 didn't follow the schematic, but it looks like most kits do. It also needs to be said that it runs on 7-12V BUT due to the voltage drop across the reverse polarity diodes the LM386 will not run until 10+ volts are applied so you can't resort to a 9V battery . Bypassing the diode rectifier solves this problem, but you need to make sure your polarity is correct.
