I love this cute reading pillow. As a rule, it is well made and looks even better live. The texture is very fluffy and soft, like a teddy bear. Our 5 year old chose it in "pink pink" although I would say it would be more accurate to call it maroon. Don't expect it to be pink. It's not pink at all. It is packed in a vacuum bag to save space. The sticker says shake for 5 minutes and let it re-inflate for 24-48 hours but mine returned to its plush shape on its own within minutes. The foam smells light but not unpleasant. If that bothers you, air it out on the patio for a few hours. Since it's filled with memory foam, it doesn't have much support itself. Best used on a wall or other surface. I like the back pocket. It's spacious and deep. As for the complaints, I don't like the flat side pockets. I'm a little worried about the stitching, especially the handle. The seams should be stronger. I can't tell you how well he handles being abused by a kindergarten kid. We also have 18 month old twins and we assume this pillow will need a lot of tugging. The cushion can be opened at the bottom for washing. Inside there is an inner cushion with foam rubber. The zipper on mine caught bits of foam and broke when I tried to zip it up. It took several attempts to straighten the teeth so that they buckle properly. Unless you need to add or remove foam, I recommend not touching the zipper at all. All in all a great addition to our cozy home. I included images on the chair and the nugget for scaling.
